Top 4 tips for a perfect group booking

So, you need to organise a group booking or function and you don’t know where to start. Don’t fret, we’ve got you covered with our top 4 tips for the perfect group booking!

Consider the purpose of your booking. Is it corporate in nature? You know, conference style with lots of people in business shirts? Or maybe it’s something a little more on the casual side like a birthday, cocktail party, or just catching up for the big game?

Either way, the RUC can help you out with all sorts of group bookings. We believe these five tips, though quite simple and straightforward, are critical steps to follow when you’re organising a function. The best part is you really only have to focus on getting the people there – we can work with you to take care of the rest!

Location

Okay, so we all know the RUC is the perfect venue for your group booking, but you should also consider the best spot for you and your mates. Group bookings can be made in any part of the Club, for example the sun deck, the greens, the main bar, or the raised lounge.

Does your group like to have an activity to focus on while catching up? You might want to book one of our greens to play some casual bowls in the sun or Uggboot bowls in the cooler months.

If you’re meeting up to watch the big game, you’ll probably want to grab some seats in front of one of our huge TV walls. If you have a lot of catching up to do with an old friend, you might be better suited to a quiet corner inside.

No matter the event, our RUC Bookings Manager, Anna, can help you book the perfect spot. Contact Anna on (02) 6247 7838, or email Bookings@theruc.com.au.

People

What’s a function or group booking without people? Inviting the right crowd with plenty of notice is really the most important step to any event. If you’re the organiser in your friendship group, it’s up to you to make sure people know what the plan is and when to show up.

If you’re planning a big event, we recommend getting your invites out around six weeks prior, include an RSVP date, and even consider a ‘save the date’ alert for special milestones like a 21st, 50th, or anniversary party. If it’s a corporate function, utilise your business channels to get the function in everyone’s calendars ahead of time.

Food

Everyone loves a good feed! We can help you with any culinary questions you might have, with options to suit the style of your group booking and your budget. Choose from a cocktail function with finger food, a sit-down meal and drinks, or whatever else you feel like having. Check out our menu here.

Drinks

A man’s not a camel. Nor is a woman for that matter!

If you’re organising a group booking or event at the RUC, drinks have to be high up on your priority list. You should think about whether you want to put on a bar tab or stick to a set drinks package. The standard bar tab formula is generally draught beer, red and white wine, sparkling, and soft drink. If you prefer, you can also add bottled beer and spirits for your event – we won’t let your guests go thirsty!
