The Ultimate Guide to Summer at the RUC

Even though La Niña has been forecasted for another year, there’s still plenty to celebrate this summer at the RUC! And unless you’ve been hibernating, you would have noticed our home is getting a bit of a facelift. We’re excited to bring you along this journey with us and to see it all come together for everyone’s favourite time of year.

A new sporting lounge and gaming room, fresh new drinks, two of Canberra’s biggest and best decks and the home of Canberra’s favourite end of year celebrations, get ready for a cracking summer here at the RUC.

NEW Sports lounge

Damn right we have levelled up our sporting area. 11 new HD screens, air conditioning, a deck facing Haig park and plenty of comfortable seating to watch just about any sport you can think of.

With One Day International cricket season well underway, you’ll seriously struggle to find a better venue to watch your favourite sport.

CBR’s Biggest & Best Deck

We’ve always been gifted with Canberra’s biggest and best deck and now we have two! Our new sporting lounge extends out with the addition of a deck and a great view of Turner’s local Haig Park.

Christmas to New Year, celebrate with the RUC

Looking for somewhere to host a Christmas function?

The RUC is the perfect place to host your next work function, Christmas party, or end-of-year celebration. We offer 3-hour Christmas Packages that include lawn bowls and a range of food options.

We understand that end-of-year celebrations can’t always fit into December, so we are always happy to accommodate functions throughout January and February.

RUC Recovery Session

Did you know we are open 7 days a week throughout the silly season? The RUC will be open from Christmas Eve through to New Year’s Day. What better way to shake off ringing in the new year than to recover with some beers and lawn bowls.

We’ll have all your recovery needs with burgers, fries, cold and crisp beer, or seltzer, whatever takes your fancy and whatever takes the edge off from the silly season.

Enjoy our usual activities of bowls or plonk yourself down outside or under some cool air conditioning with a cold drink and chips.

Happy Hour

With daily Happy Hour and drink specials we’ve got all your thirsty needs covered.

$5 schooners, wines, and basics between 4-5pm
$4.90 basic spirits from 8-9pm

Fun drinks on tap for the whole crew to enjoy. Margarita and mojito slushies, seltzers, espresso martinis, schooners, wines, and basics.

Bowls

With La Niña set to hit for the third year in a row, if you see some sun in the forecast book your mates a run on the greens for some bowls. If Little Miss La Niña does settle in, come and enjoy a game of pool or our new sports and gaming lounges.
