Local Athletes, Top Efforts

Are you tired of not being recognised for your top efforts on the field? Are you a local hero at your club and think you should be recognised across the Canberra region?  

Tell Mum to get the camera out because your time is now!  

The RUC is celebrating local athletes and their best moments on the field, court, or other preferred surfaces with the 2023 Top Efforts competition. Top Efforts will also be celebrating those sporting bloopers we know you have kept of your mate and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to showcase. The best highlights each week will get their chance at five minutes of fame, with top selected videos going in the draw to win one of our monthly bar tabs.  

What is the Top Efforts Competition? 

Top Efforts is a video competition open to all athletes (18+) to submit their best tries, most vicious dunks, monstrous tackles or highest-flying speccies. If you thought that your best moves could have ended up on ESPN’s Top 10, then this is for you. If you think you have a highlight that will compete with the best of them, then get your video submitted.  

The entrants will be judged on the degree of difficulty, impressiveness of their highlight, or how hard they can make the RUC panel laugh. The top five each month will be shortlisted and selected by a panel for their chance to win. 

The Winners Pot 

The athletes who have submitted their video will be judged monthly. An internal judging panel will shortlist the top five from which a winner will be chosen. The selected top 5 videos from each month will be posted to socials and you may even catch a glimpse across our screens in club 😉.  

The winner of each month will walk away with a $150 bar tab!

When Does the Puck Drop?  

The competition begins on 1 June 2023 and ends 27 September 2023. You can upload your highlight on the RUC website here.  

Key dates:

Round 1

• 1-30 June: Submit your June highlights. Entries close at 11.59pm, 30 June 2023   
• 14 July: June winner announced.  

Round 2

• 1-31 July: Submit your July highlights. Entries close at 11.59pm, 31 July 2023  
• 14 August: July winner announced. 

Round 3

• 1-31 August: Enter your August highlights. Entries close at 11.59pm, 31 August 2023  
• 15 September: August winner announced. 

Round 4

• 1-30 September: Enter your September highlights. Entries close at 11.59pm, 30 September 2023  
• 14 October: September winner announced. 

How Do I Put My Hat in the Ring? 

To enter, head to our website and submit your video entry on the Top Efforts page. Fill out the form with all your details and hit submit.
